I spent my time there assigned to the
1st Cavalry Division, headquartered north
of Saigon, at Phuoc Vinh.

The 1st Cavalry Division was "air-mobile"
and had many helicopters.
Over 58,000 American soldiers died in the Vietnam War,
and according to this display, the 1st Cav suffered 30,000 casualties.
Several of my fellow soldiers were shot down in helicopters.
