Continuing in Chiang Mai, today we took a tour to the hill tribes and to a hilltop temple, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. The hill tribe stop was a bit of a disappointment as it seemed to be just another market:
The temple, on the other hand, was impressive. It was built in 1383. A Buddha relic was mounted on the back of a white elephant. The elephant was allowed to wander until it stopped and died at the spot of Doi Suthep.
After the temple we went to a restaurant and I had my first salad in Thailand (violating the rule of cook it, peel it, or forget it):
After the meal we went to the Saturday night market. It was very large and crowded. Judy loved it and bought quite a few things:
All in all, another good day in Thailand.
